THE PROCESS STAGES-
- The ingredients are cleaned by a catador which clears out dust, minute particles and small stones.
- Any pieces or irons such as nails or bits of wire are removed magnetically.
- The ingredients are passed through a series of string (separator) which sort them into sizes.
- A gust of air separate the ingredients from the particles of different density, such as debris, chaffs and scrap of husks.
- A Colorimeter detects any under ripe or over ripe ingredients by reflecting light through it. Any ingredient being too pale or too dark are ejected through compressed air.
- Ultraviolet light is passed to get rid of the rotten ingredients also known as stinkers which can contaminate the whole bag.
- In some instance hand-picking is done for finally sorting the ingredients.
